Setting Up Aspen to Build Your Schedule for Next Year

The first step in preparing to build your master schedule is to set up the system.

To set up the system, do the following in the order listed:

  1. Define the school year in the District view.
  2. Associate the school to the build year.
  3. Copy current year courses forward to the build year.
  4. Associate students to their next year schools.
  5. Grant Build view access to the appropriate users.

After you complete these steps, you can create a build scenario.

Districts can also determine the class size definitions to define the maximum n umber of students that can be enrolled in sections for a range of grade levels. Then, while building the master schedule, use the new Class Size Summary to view any sections that have exceeded the class size definition.
