Automated Password Recovery and Duplicate Login IDs

Automated password recovery in Aspen allows users to set up their own secure question and response to recover forgotten passwords.

If a user accidentally resets a password or deletes a course section, Aspen system administrators can recover the information without contacting Aspen Technical Support.

Also, it is possible to view duplicate user Login IDs by running the Unique Logins Validation Report.

To set up self-serve password recovery:

  1. Define district preferences to enable password recovery, and determine if you want to make it mandatory that users set up their recovery.
  2. Users use their Set Preferences Security page to manage the email address that Aspen uses to send their password, and the question and answer that will ensure it is their logon.
  3. Recover a password using automated password recovery.

To restore passwords and identify duplicate Login IDs:

  1. Restore passwords that were accidentally reset, or roll back deleted course sections.
  2. Run the Unique Logins Validation Report to identify duplicate IDs and ensure that each Login ID is unique.
