Finding and Selecting a Student by Name

If you know a student's name, there are four ways to find that student on the Student List. You can do one of the following:

  • Type the name in the Search box , and then click .
  • Use the Find pop-up (CTRL+F).
  • Use the Page drop-down .
  • Press CTRL+I to search by a portion of the student's name.

If you are on a student details page (Student > Details) and want to look for a different student, click on the record navigation bar and search through the student pick list.


Depending on your district's Student preferences, the Student Search icon appears in the record navigation bar (in place of ). To search for a different student, click . A pop-up appears:

To search for a student from a student details page:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Enter a student's name or ID (Local Id or SASID) at Name or ID.
    • Enter a student's last name at Last Name.
  1. To refine your search, complete one or more of the Optional Search Fields:
    • First Name
    • Grade Level
    • Gender
    • Date of Birth
  1. Click Search.

    Notes

    • If you enter a name (or part of a name) at Name or ID, Aspen returns an exact match (if one exists). Otherwise, Aspen finds a student with a name similar to the one you entered.
    • If you enter a student's last name at Last Name, Aspen looks for an exact match. If none is found, the message "No results found. Please narrow your search" appears.
