Translate message resources

You can translate a message resource in Aspen by creating a locale for the message. Message resources include error messages, warnings, buttons and other user interface (UI) elements.

To translate a message resource:

  1. Log on to the District view.
  2. Select Global > All.
  3. Click the Message Resource table.
  4. Click the message resource you want to translate.
  1. Copy the text in the Key field and the Value field.
  2. Select Options > Add.
  3. In the Key field, paste the key value from step 6.
  1. In the Locale field, type the locale you are creating a translation for.
Note: Locales consist of a two-letter language code, an underscore and a two-letter nation code. For example, en_GB indicates British English, and en_US indicates American English. If you have any questions about what locale to use, see your Aspen system administrator or school administrator.
  1. In the Value field, type the translation of the English Value field text. This is the text that appears in the UI or in system messages.
  2. Click Save.
