Define SIF configuration details

Note: You must be familiar with details of SIFClosed an open-standard specification that allows school software applications from different vendors – such as student information systems and library automation software – to interact and share data compliance in order to set the SIF Configuration details in Aspen.

To define your district’s (root organizationClosed an entity that contains one or more schools) SIF Configuration details:

  1. Log on to the District view.
  2. Click the District tab.
  3. On the Setup side-tab, click Details.
  4. Click the SIF Configuration sub-tab.
  5. Use the following table to help you enter the information in the fields:

    Field

    Description

    Agent Id

    Type the ID of the server transmitting the data.

    Zone Id

    Type the ID of your school district.

    Version

    Type the version of SIF software Aspen is using.

    Transport mode

    Click on the drop-down and select a transport mode:

    • Push
    • Pull

    ZIS URL

    Type the url of the server others are connecting to.

    Agent listener port

    Type the port number (port of the ZIS) other are connecting to.

    Pull Frequency (mins)

    Type the number of minutes between pulls when the Transport mode is set to Pull.

  1. Click Save.
    Note: In Aspen's online help, 'District' is frequently used for the root organization, which is the default name of the organization. However, you can change the name of the root organization in the Admin tab > Organization Definitions > Details. You can also name all intermediate organizations here. These names become the tab and view names.
