Using the Build Schedule Workspace

The Build Schedule workspace is your master schedule in progress. It contains all the sections that need to be built. The Aspen schedule engine works to fill each section in the workspace with a schedule and a room.

Do the following to use the workspace to build your schedule:

  1. Initialize the workspace.
  2. Pre-schedule sections by defining specific information for each section before you build your master schedule.
  3. Build the master schedule using the sections on the Workspace tab.

Use the Filter menu Filter icon. to display specific sections on the list:

  • All sections
  • Scheduled sections
  • Prescheduled sections
  • Sections over max
  • Course Sections = ? (type a number of sections)

Note: To sort the Workspace, click a column header to sort by the data in that column. For example, to sort the list by teachers’ names, click PrimaryStaffName. The system sorts the list alphabetically by teacher’s last name. The default sort is defined in the Schedule preferences in the Student schedule sort order field.
