Define periods

Define the number of periods in your schedule. You need a period for each time block. You may also want to create periods for homeroom, activities, advisories, and after-school programs.

To define your periods:

  1. Log on to the District view.
  2. Select Scenario > School Periods.
  3. Select Options > Add. The Add Period pop-up appears.
  4. Add Period pop-up

  1. In the Period count field, type the number of periods in this schedule scenario. The pop-up displays the appropriate number of rows, with each row representing a period.
  2. For each period, type an identifier in the Identifier column.
  3. Note: Follett suggests using different identifiers for days and periods. For example, if you use letters for periods, use numbers for days.

  1. For each period, type a name in the Name column.
  2. Click Save.
  3. Note: To determine if you want the system to schedule courses during a period, select the period on the Period page, and click Details on the Periods side-tab. Then, select the Is scheduled checkbox if you want the system to schedule classes in this period. Some schools create a homeroom period in which they do not want the system to schedule classes.

  1. Select the Is study period checkbox if you want the system to consider this period when scheduling study halls for students.
