Enable translation

Before you translate individual fields or tables, you need to enable translation of those fields and tables.

The following is a list of the basic tables and fields that you should enable for localization:

Table Name Field Name
Data Field Config Attribute Long name
Data Field Config Attribute Short name
Data Relation District Attribute Long name
Data Relation District Attribute Short name
Data Table Config Attribute Name
Group Page Tab Title
Group Page Widget Title
Import/Export Definition Name
Procedure Definition Name
Report Definition Name
View Template Name
Widget Definition Title

You can enable more as needed.

To enable these tables and fields for translation:

  1. Log on to the District view.
  2. Select Admin > Data Dictionary.
  3. Using the table above, find and select one of the tables in the Name column.
  4. On the Data Dictionary side-tab, click Fields. The list of fields in that table appears.
  1. In the Name column, find and click the field shown in the table above.
  2. Select the Localized checkbox.
Note: If you do not see this checkbox, select Default Fields from the Template drop-down.
    • Selecting this checkbox creates a blank field for you to manually enter a translation for this field in every table, or for your import to put its translation for this field in every table.

Example: If you select the Localized checkbox for the Long name and Short name fields on the Data Config Field Attribute table, a blank field appears for every long name and short name field in every table on the Translate sub-tab.
  1. Click Save.
  2. Repeat steps 3 –8 for each table and its fields listed in the table at the beginning of this topic.
